Catrice Pimp My Shrimp

With this afwul weather, all I wanted was.. some nicely colored nails to cheer me up!

Pimp my Shrimp, a sort of coral pink/red surely does his job. It's really beautiful under daylight (can't exacly say sunlight, there hasn't been a decent day of sun for weeks and it's really cold as hell), it gives a nice spring feel.
P.s. This is still from the old line, I haven't tried the new formulas and brushes yet. I have seen lots of complaining so far, but I always see complaints against big brushes, that work greatly on my nails, so maybe it's all a matter of nail shape. And maybe lenght?

Sinful Cuteness

The title kinda sounds like a band name. Anyway, since I'm going away for the weekend I decided to add some cute details to Sinful Colors Cinderella, some cute glitters (Sweets way by Nails Inc) on the tips and a ribbon made with Kiko 375.

I don't know why but sometimes I feel the need to wear something cute and super-girly, like this.

Have a good weekend, y'all!

Sinful Colors Cinderella

Ladies and gentlemen, let me introduce you to another polish that's a pain the neck to capture in photos:

It's sunny at least and I managed to take a photo with natural light!

It's a pastel light blue with gold and pink microflakes. I find the name very accurate!
When I saw that Coin had put on a Sinful Colors display I decided I absolutely needed to try something, the price is low and the colors are beautiful. I fell in love with Gorgeous, that I didn't buy yet, and ended up with Cinderella instead. Later I remembered having read reviews of it and was even more eager to try it on.
You know when sometimes a polish seems beautiful in the bottle then you try it on and it's just not as great? Well, Cinderella is not that kind of polish. What the bottle promises, you'll get it. It is, however, very sheer, you will need at least three coats.
I am very happy with this purchase, I recommend it.
Vote: A-.

My lack of posts lately is due the university and my lack of time, I usually paint my nails in the evening after dinner but now that I have to go to bed considerably earlier, it doesn't have time to dry. My last experiment, that was supposed to be another Historical Figure mani, came out as a fail also because of this. Plus, let's face it, sephora polishes take centuries to dry.

Lava nails

Hello everyone! I wanted to try a lava effect on my nails, so I used an orange base, Juicy Pumpkin by Shaka and sponged red (Super red, H&M ) and yellow (Little miss sunrise, Essence) on it
Then I applied Kiko's rock top coat in black.

I really love the top coat effect, but perhaps I should have used only red and yellow, more contrasting colours would have been nicer. Either way, it's certainly a mani I like and it really reminds me of fire.

Historical Figures Series: Horatio Nelson

I know I haven't posted anything in days, but university (and videogames...) kept me busy. Plus, Burlesque by Shaka was incredibly long lasting, after five days it had just started to show signs of tipwear. Now that's good quality!
But onwards with the news! Mixing my obsession with History and the time spent playing Civilization V I decided to start a new nail art series inspired by historical figures. There will be people I've read the biography of and people that I just find fascinating...

I will start with the british Admiral Horatio Nelson:

And that's my take on it. I am in love with Royal Navy uniforms.

It was also a good occasion to try 19 Denim Blue by Avon (more like navy blue to me...), a polish lent me by a friend of mine (we're borrowing each other's polishes!).

The other colors are my trusty white 203 and mirror gold 628 by Kiko.

Shaka Burlesque

I'm not a pink nail polish person, but hell, this is gorgeous.  A pink basis with such a strong golden shimmer that it's almost a duochrome, hard to capture in photos but really gorgeous.
This is 3 coats and topcoat, maybe 2 coats are enought but with 3 the gold really stands out. It could make a really nice layering polish.
Honestly, it makes me think of fabric, maybe of indian saris, more than burlesque... but, hey, it's gold and bright pink, it's perfect for burlesque too!

Noblesse oblige: Stamping with Kiko 628

I bought Kiko 628, of the new Mirror Nail Lacquer series, because I heard these mirror polished stamped greatly (and because I love gold nails..) and it turned out to be true! This polish is very beautiful and stamps greatly, I recommend it.
The base is Life is a Freeride by Essence and I used the GA38 stamping plate by galscosmetics.

I must say, I really like how it turned out, it's simple and yet eye-catching... it reminds me of brocade, hence the nickname of this nail art. I really feel like a queen now!
